Jay is currently the Head of Commercial Finance for Odyssey Energy Solutions, a fintech platform that works with financiers and project developers to streamline and scale-up investment in distributed renewable energy in emerging markets. With a portfolio diverse in geography (US, Latin America, Asia, Africa, Europe), project lifecycle (early-stage development, construction, operations), and financial product (growth equity, mezzanine, project debt, corporate debt/bonds, working capital revolvers, blended finance, etc.), Jay has been involved in pioneering financing transactions in the infrastructure and energy sector as a principal and advisor at leading private and public institutions, including IFC/World Bank, Macquarie Capital, and Credit Suisse / UBS. Prior to joining Odyssey, he was Chief Investment Officer and a founding executive team member at DC Green Bank -- the second city-focused green bank to be formed in the US -- where he was instrumental in formulating and implementing investment products, processes, and risk controls.
As an example of financial innovation derived from market and policy due diligence, Jay utilized his experience financing merchant power and environmental credits in Latin America, to structure and close DC Green Bank's first Solar Renewable Energy Credit (SREC) and stormwater retention credit financing transactions.
Jay has served as an advisor and angel investor in various fintech and climatetech platforms. He holds an MA in International Development and Economics from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a BBA in Finance from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, and he is a CFA charterholder.
